| Ride Sharing |
|
This page will provide contact information for anyone wishing to share a ride into Daytona from either Orlando International Airport or Orlando-Sanford International. If you wish to find someone to share your ride, please send me your arrival and departure information (including which airport!) and your email address; I will post it here. If you would like to share a ride with someone who has posted information already, please contact that person directly. Everyone wishing to make use of this possibility may want to learn a little more about the airports.
Share a Ride:
Orlando-Sanford International Airport (SFB) is a regional strip north of Orlando serving mostly overseas charter airlines and a few regional carriers (a list is available at http://www.orlandosanfordairport.com/airlines.asp). It is significantly closer to Daytona, but offers fewer options for flights. Because it is relatively small, you should be able to meet other SEMA-ites as they come off the plane: everyone descends the same escalator / staircase to the baggage claim area. Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the big one that brings all the tourists to Disney World, served by dozens of airlines and connecting to everywhere. It is, unhappily, some 75-80 miles from the conference hotel. It is also a very large and busy airport with folks arriving and departing from four different areas. If you are renting a car from one of the half dozen "on airport" firms (http://www.orlandoairports.net/goaa/ops/rac.htm) my suggestion is that you meet at the car rental firm: go to the B side of the airport, and follow the signs from there. |
