Construction Advisory!
 

When I visited the Plaza Resort & Spa yeesterday to confirm arrangements for SEMA 2005, I found myself driving through construction on Atlantic Ave., just south of the hotel. Mapquest, Google, etc. will almost certainly route you throught that construction, which any you driving from the south or the west, and those flying in to any of the airports in central Florida, will need to finesse. When I went through it was mostly an inconvenience, but sometimes traffic will back up significantly around that construction. Here's how to avoid it.

About 3-4 miles east of the airport, US 92 crosses a large bridge over the Halifax River (Intracoastal Waterway).  Once you have crossed, turn left at either the first (Halifax) or the second (Peninsula) cross street. Stay on that road for about 1 mile to Oakridge Blvd. Turn right on Oakridge (a one-way street) and follow it to Atlantic. Turn left on Atlantic, and be ready to make a quick right turn into the Plaza.
